“I really wanted to be an actor for ages but I just changed my mind, as young people do. I just realised that I love acting but I don’t want to depend on it for my living… I want to pursue other occupations that I feel would give me more satisfaction in life. It’s such a weird concept that we need a purpose in our life and we need an occupation to validate that purpose. It just kind of struck me, not in any immediate way, that even though I love acting and it’s enjoyable to do, that ‘professionalising’ it makes it less enjoyable, when you have to depend on it.”
